After The Hunger Games posted a record-breaking opening weekend, netting an estimated $155 million, analysts predicted that number would ultimately total to more than $300 million in profit for independent studio Lionsgate, according to the Los Angeles Times.

JP Morgan media analyst Monica Dicenso predicted that the first Hunger Games film would yield $310 million in profit and the series as a whole will rake in $1.5 billion. James Marsh of Piper Jaffray said the totals could be even higher, with more than $400 million from the first movie and more than $2 billion for the entire series.

A lot of you saw The Hunger Games over the weekend, so now you know the additional scenes that Gary Ross added with President Snow (Donald Sutherland) and Wes Bentley (Seneca Crane). We talked to Wes exclusively who filled us in on his journey becoming Seneca and why those additions were so vital. How did you get involved in the project?

I knew about The Hunger Games. I heard through the business grapevine that Jen Lawrence was cast in her next movie, and I loved Winter’s Bone, I knew that girl was going to be the next big thing, as an actor. I was interested in what she was doing and it was The Hunger Games. Little did I know my great team was already working on getting me in it! Thankfully so.

The scenes with you and Donald were amazing and give great insight into the Captiol and President Snow. Can you talk about how those additions came to be?

The Hunger Games is coming to TV — in 2014.

ABC Family, which is also home to the Harry Potter franchise, has acquired the network television premiere rights to the just-released hit film and the franchise’s second film, Catching Fire, the network announced today.
