Jennifer Lawrence dreams of summer on the June 2011 cover of ASOS magazine.

Styled by Zeba Lowe, the 20-year-old actress couldn’t say enough good things about her X-Men First Class cast.

Jennifer shared, “We all legitimately love each other, so filming in London was like being at a really weird summer camp. James McAvoy is one of the best, more pure-hearted good guys that I’ve ever met, and Michael Fassbender is funny and great.”

MTV: Jennifer Lawrence Talks ‘Hunger Games’ Audition: ‘It Was The Most Terrifying Thing Of My Life’

Posted by amanda in Mar 25, 2011 with No Comments

Sure, newly anointed “Hunger Games” heroine Jennifer Lawrence seems all calm, cool and collected when she’s joking with us about “Jersey Shore,” but that doesn’t mean her nerves don’t take over when the pressure is on.

In one of her first interviews since landing the plum role of Katniss Everdeen, Jennifer called in to Ryan Seacrest’s radio show and opened up about the harrowing audition process.

“I did this really long improv with Gary Ross—the director—and it was the most terrifying thing of my life,” she said.

MTV: ‘Winter’s Bone’ Helped Prepare Jennifer Lawrence For ‘Hunger Games’ Says Casting Director

Posted by amanda in Mar 23, 2011 with No Comments

When MTV News revealed last week that Jennifer Lawrence would take up Katniss Everdeen’s bow and arrow in the big-screen adaptation of “The Hunger Games,” many fans wondered where she was the right fit for the role. Some thought she was too tall, too blond and even too old to play the 16-year-old olive-skinned, dark-haired heroine. But keep this in mind, “Hunger Games” fans, it’s not always easy casting a character from a novel since everyone has an idea of what the character should look like. No one knows that better than casting director, Paul Schnee, who helped cast Jennifer in “Winter’s Bone”—a motion picture also based on a book.

“You have to cast the film,” Paul said. “We aren’t reinventing the story, we have to make it its own thing. I think that if someone is good enough, and I think Jen is, whatever is, or isn’t right in some people’s minds about how the character should look, will be forgiven if someone is excellent.”

Watching Jennifer give a riveting Oscar-nominated performance as Ree in “Winter’s Bone,” Paul has no doubt that she will give a perfect portrayal of Katniss.

“I think she is very open and accessible as a person and as an actress,” Paul said. “I suspect doing something like ‘Winter’s Bone’ probably made her better than she already is.”

We will all be able to judge Jennifer’s performance for ourselves in exactly one year when “The Hunger Games” hits theaters. So let the countdown begin, and start marking your calendars because The Reaping is only 365 days away!

MTV: ‘Hunger Games’: We Imagine What Jennifer Lawrence Will Look Like As Katniss!

Posted by amanda in Mar 21, 2011 with No Comments

Sure, Jennifer Lawrence may not have been born with dark locks or olive skin, but that doesn’t mean a little movie magic (or box of Clairol) can’t transform her into District 12 tribute Katniss Everdeen. (I mean, Alex Pettyfer doesn’t actually have a face-full of scars nor does Robert Pattinson’s skin sparkle in the sun—that we know of). Yet, maybe you’re still having a hard time picturing the 20-year-old as the strong-willed heroine of Suzanne Collins’ dystopian trilogy. Well, struggle no more because we have a sneak peek of what Jennifer could look like as Katniss in the film adaptation of “The Hunger Games.”

We asked “THG” fan and artist Kate Wheeler of Rat Girl Studios to illustrate Jennifer in five of Katniss’ signature outfits (designed in the novel by her stylist Cinna): her reaping dress, her presentation costume, her interview dress, her Hunger Games uniform and her simple, gold dress. And all we can say is, we’re sold! Click play on the video after the jump to see all five outfits!

EW: ‘Hunger Games’ author Suzanne Collins talks Jennifer Lawrence

Posted by amanda in Mar 21, 2011 with No Comments

Fans are still buzzing over last week’s news that Jennifer Lawrence has been cast as Katniss Everdeen in the film version of The Hunger Games. EW has received an exclusive statement by Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins on Lawrence’s casting. The complete text of the statement follows:

Dear Readers,

We have found Katniss.

As the author, I went into the casting process with a certain degree of trepidation. Believing your heroine can make the leap from the relative safety of the page to the flesh and bones reality of the screen is something of a creative act of faith. But after watching dozens of auditions by a group of very fine young actresses, I felt there was only one who truly captured the character I wrote in the book.  And I’m thrilled to say that Jennifer Lawrence has accepted the role.

In her remarkable audition piece, I watched Jennifer embody every essential quality necessary to play Katniss. I saw a girl who has the potential rage to send an arrow into the Gamemakers and the protectiveness to make Rue her ally. Who has conquered both Peeta and Gale’s hearts even though she’s done her best to wall herself off emotionally from anything that would lead to romance. Most of all, I believed that this was a girl who could hold out that handful of berries and incite the beaten down districts of Panem to rebel. I think that was the essential question for me. Could she believably inspire a rebellion? Did she project the strength, defiance and intellect you would need to follow her into certain war? For me, she did.

Jennifer’s just an incredible actress. So powerful, vulnerable, beautiful, unforgiving and brave. I never thought we’d find somebody this amazing for the role. And I can’t wait for everyone to see her play it.

Thank you all for sharing in this journey and may the odds be ever in your favor!

Love,

Suzanne Collins

EW: Jennifer Lawrence talks ‘The Hunger Games’ — and her love of Peeta

Posted by amanda in Mar 18, 2011 with No Comments

Yesterday, Lionsgate officially announced that Jennifer Lawrence is your Katniss Everdeen, Hunger Games fans. Last night, director Gary Ross told EW why both he and trilogy author Suzanne Collins believe she is the right young woman to play the highly coveted role. Today, the Oscar-nominated actress released a statement to the universe of Hunger Games fans: “I couldn’t be happier about being a part of Hunger Games and to play Katniss. I have a huge responsibility to the fans of this incredible book and I don’t take it lightly. I will give everything I have to these movies and to this role to make it worthy of Suzanne Collin’s masterpiece.”

And now Lawrence has responded to a few of EW’s burning questions about the thrill of getting to bring District 12′s scrappy hero alive on the big screen.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What scene from the three books made you the most excited to play Katniss?

JENNIFER LAWRENCE: I don’t think a particular scene made me excited to play Katniss, the entire book made me want that. That being said, I’ve never shot a bow and arrow, so that’ll be cool.

What character besides Katniss are you fondest of, and what is it about them you love?

Peeta. He’s good and nice in a world that’s harsh and unkind.

What heroines from movies past do you think have some of Katniss’ fighting spirit?

Sigourney Weaver’s “Ripley” in Alien is the first that comes to mind.
