Picktainment: Podcast: Hunger Games Fireside Chat (Episode 22)

Episode 22 of the Hunger Games Fireside Chat podcast aired LIVE this Monday, August 29, at 10pm ET/7pm PT! This week, our panel of experts included some of our fabulous friends from Down with the Capitol and The Hob. We will also be joined by Crystal of Mockingjay.net and FictionalFood.net, Sam of District Tribute and Panem Radio, and Kait of Victor’s Village.

For the first 10-15 minutes of the show, we recapped our Mockingjay anniversary celebration and share a sneak preview of District Tribute’s unofficial Mockingjay score.

At around 10:15pm ET, Jenn let us know what we can expect this week from The Hunger Games Collab and also shared three of this week’s top Hunger Games Confessions

At 10:25pm ET, we began a second-by-second, frame-by-frame analysis of the first official Hunger Games teaser (which premiered at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night). Get your magnifying glasses and pause buttons ready to follow along with us!

We also weighed in on the post-VMAs commentary from Gary Ross.

Amie Marie of The Vivacity Blog — who attended the VMAs Sunday night — told us what it was like to watch the teaser trailer AT the awards show!

What can you expect?

  •  The Hunger Games Examiner, Sara Gundell, will kick off the show for us by sharing some incredibly exciting news (trust us — if you’re aHunger Games fan, you won’t want to miss this!)
  • Gwen, founder of The Hunger Games Collab on YouTube, will tell us all about the channel, those involved, and what we can expect in the future
  • We will, of course, also discuss the latest movie-related news: Is filming coming to a close? What do we think about the Peacekeeper uniforms (as seen in the still of Gale at the Reaping)? T. Bone Burnett said Jennifer Lawrence’s recording of “Rue’s Lullaby” will be “coming out soon” — what does this mean!?
  • To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the publication of Mockingjay, we’ll spend the rest of the show revealing some of our pre-Mockingjay theories, chatting about our favoriteMockingjay moments, and more! We’ll also let you know how you can join in the Mockingjay anniversary fun throughout the week! (Yes, at least one giveaway will be involved!)

“Hunger Games Hotties”

Episode 18 of the Hunger Games Fireside Chat podcast airs LIVE tonight (Monday), August 1st, at 10pm ET/7pm PT!  This week, as always, our panel of experts will include some of our fabulous friends from Down with the Capitol and The Hob. We will also be joined by Sam of I Am the Mockingjay and District Tribute, Sheila of HG Girl on Fire, Saph of HungerGamesRPG.com, Natalie of Crushable, Kim of Reflections of a Book Addict, noted photographer Rebekah, and Ariel of Madam Pince and the Librarians and Nerdy, Wordy, and Almost Thirty.

We’ll kick off the show by talking about the thing that everyone has been talking about this week: the “men of The Hunger Games” issue of Entertainment Weekly, which hit the stands on Friday. How do we feel about Josh and Liam after finally seeing them in-character as Peeta and Gale? Listen and find out!

We’ll discuss more of the latest Hunger Games news, including Slate naming Suzanne Collins one of the ”Most Innovative & Practical Thinkers of 2011” and a new album that we know you’re all going to want!

Episode 17 of the Hunger Games Fireside Chat podcast airs live tonight (Monday), July 25, at 10pm ET/7pm PT!  This week, our panel of experts includes some of our fabulous friends from Down with the Capitol and The Hob.   • We’ll also talk to Shylah from Down with the Capitol about her Hunger is NOT a Game initiative (if you haven’t yet heard about the severe drought in East Africa and the UN’s recent declaration of famine in Somalia, please read more about this tragic, real-life battle)
  • At about 10:35, we’ll broach a topic that has long been a source of annoyance for most Hunger Games fans: those who claim that Suzanne Collins’ trilogy is a “rip-off” of the Japanese novel and film Battle Royale(we think these claims are ridiculous and will explain why)
  • At 10:45, we’ll bring you another round of Crackpot Theories: Did rebels plan for Prim’s name to be drawn so that Katniss would volunteer? Were Cato and Clove in a relationship?

In Episode 12 of Fireside Chat, we are joined by our regular panel of Hunger Games experts and fan site representatives, as well as guest panelist Jennifer Canzoneri, Marketing Manager for Smart Pop Books (publisher of The Girl Who Was on Fire). Discussion topics include the promotional poster for the film that was revealed at the Licensing International Expo, the Scholastic gift edition and movie tie-ins, the truth behind the John C. Reilly rumor, T. Bone Burnett and Danny Elfman’s [possible] involvement in the film’s music, and the sudden disappearance of Panem October. We may even throw in a round of Crackpot Theories to cap things off…
