Examiner: Lionsgate: ’The Hunger Games’ script written by Gary Ross & Suzanne Collins

Lionsgate has confirmed that the shooting script for The Hunger Games movie was written by director Gary Ross and author Suzanne Collins.
Collins wrote the original draft of the script, which was then revised by veteran screenwriter Billy Ray. (His credits include State of Play and Volcano). Apparently, some websites think this meant the script was written by Billy Ray Cyrus — no relation whatsoever to Ray himself — and rumors took over the Internet.
Lionsgate confirms that not only did Cyrus have nothing to do with the script, but they are no longer using the version written by Ray.
Ross and Collins collaborated on a new script, that sticks more to the original story arc of her books.
Lionsgate tweeted confirmation this past week, saying:
The current draft of The Hunger Games script was not written by Billy Ray. It is a collaboration between Gary Ross and Suzanne Collins
