MTV: Chloe Moretz Talks ‘Hunger Games’ And Super-Secret New Project

Posted by amanda in Mar 29, 2011 with No Comments

Oh, Chloe Moretz, how you TEASE US. We caught up with the 14 year-old star of “Let Me In” and “Kick-Ass” on the red carpet at this weekend’s First Annual Comedy Awards in NYC, and she let slip that she’s got some seriously exciting news to announce in the next week or so…but the little minx wouldn’t tell us what it is.

“I just booked a huge project last night,” is all she’d say. “You’re gonna die when you find out, it’s huge!”

And it must be, since Chloe added that after officially landing whatever role this is, “I left my iPad on a plane, I was so freaked out.”

Okay then! We’ll be on tenterhooks waiting for the official word to come down…and doing our best to guess in the meantime. (C’mon Chloe, admit it: You’re gonna be the next James Bond, right?) And for Chloe, a big-deal new film project must soften the blow of having been passed up for the primo part of Katniss Everdeen in the upcoming “Hunger Games” movie—though she’s got nothing but nice things to say about Jennifer Lawrence, who did snag the role and with whom she’s worked before. And while she’s quick to say that she can’t really talk about it, we’ve got a gut feeling that Chloe might still be in the running for another role in the film. Prim, perhaps?

But really, back to the BIG SECRET PROJECT: Can’t she just give us a hint?

“It’s big and it’s crazy and it involves some really cool actors,” said Chloe. “And it’s HUGE.”

MTV: ‘Winter’s Bone’ Helped Prepare Jennifer Lawrence For ‘Hunger Games’ Says Casting Director

Posted by amanda in Mar 23, 2011 with No Comments

When MTV News revealed last week that Jennifer Lawrence would take up Katniss Everdeen’s bow and arrow in the big-screen adaptation of “The Hunger Games,” many fans wondered where she was the right fit for the role. Some thought she was too tall, too blond and even too old to play the 16-year-old olive-skinned, dark-haired heroine. But keep this in mind, “Hunger Games” fans, it’s not always easy casting a character from a novel since everyone has an idea of what the character should look like. No one knows that better than casting director, Paul Schnee, who helped cast Jennifer in “Winter’s Bone”—a motion picture also based on a book.

“You have to cast the film,” Paul said. “We aren’t reinventing the story, we have to make it its own thing. I think that if someone is good enough, and I think Jen is, whatever is, or isn’t right in some people’s minds about how the character should look, will be forgiven if someone is excellent.”

Watching Jennifer give a riveting Oscar-nominated performance as Ree in “Winter’s Bone,” Paul has no doubt that she will give a perfect portrayal of Katniss.

“I think she is very open and accessible as a person and as an actress,” Paul said. “I suspect doing something like ‘Winter’s Bone’ probably made her better than she already is.”

We will all be able to judge Jennifer’s performance for ourselves in exactly one year when “The Hunger Games” hits theaters. So let the countdown begin, and start marking your calendars because The Reaping is only 365 days away!

MTV: ‘Hunger Games’ Casting: Experts Weigh In On Who Should Play Peeta

Posted by amanda in Mar 23, 2011 with No Comments

Very similar to the MTV article I posted yesterday this one talks  to  many admins from fans blogs about the big question on everyone mind. Who is going to play Peeta? I am excited to see who will be cast? What do you guys think? Who is your fav? :)

Now that we officially have our Katniss, the hunt is on for fellow District 12 tribute, Peeta Mellark. And everyone seems to have an opinion (including us!) on who should be cast alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the film adaptation of “The Hunger Games.”

In the book, Suzanne Collins describes Peeta as “having ashy blond hair that falls in waves over his forehead.” But like we saw with the casting of Jennifer, Hollywood may not pick someone who already looks the part. With that in mind, we chatted up the experts to find out who they think should nab the coveted role.
